Photographer and Filmmaker Nick Brengle's short documentary series "The Visual Narrative" is a deep dive into the world of talented local creatives pursuing their dreams and passions. Through evocative, intimate and personal storytelling, we take a close look at the host’s environment and experiences, each episode highlighting a different person and their relationship to Washington DC. In this chapter we meet Julian Thomas, a commercial photographer, videographer and chocolate chip cookie enthusiast who balances the pressures of perfection, inspiring others through his creativity, and being a “witness of the moment.”

Nick Brengle is a cinematographer that has a passion for narrative stories that are delicate and honest to the subject. Since Nick moved to the DMV seven years ago, he has built deep relationships that have been foundational to his creativity. Highlighting and giving a platform to the talents of various artists all over the DMV has inspired many of the most fulfilling projects that Nick has been a part of. Although Nick is most impassioned by narrative film, he has been successful in more corporate projects with well-known organizations and with larger production teams. In 2014, Nick hosted his podcast called Atmosphere, producing over 30 episodes. Atmosphere evolved into what is now called The Visual Narrative, a multi-episode series of short documentary-style films that accentuates the passions and talents of various types of artists in the DMV. These films live on Nick’s YouTube Channel alongside many other types of videos ranging from gear reviews, lighting tips, and short story films. Due to Nick’s craving for collaboration and thanks to the brilliant circle of creatives that Nick has been blessed with, a podcast called The Create Together Podcast was formed. Caleb Hargett, a partner in many projects, and Nick host The Create Together Podcast where they speak about their love for film and really anything that is on their minds. When Nick is not holding a camera, he is playing tennis with his wife, getting coffee with a friend, or watching the Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey.
